General information:
Microprismatic warning markings are a weatherproof and cleaning agent-resistant product designed for outdoor use on vehicles. They should be applied to solid, flat surfaces.
Attachment to vehicle/surface:
Curved surfaces: The film derives its enormous reflective power from its microprismatic surface. Due to this technology, the film has very limited elasticity and cannot be recommended for complex radii (surface curvature in two directions)! In such cases, bonds that appear to be working may come loose after approximately one to two weeks. There are no concerns for flat and slight curvatures in one direction.
Tension-free bonding: It is therefore essential to ensure tension-free bonding, which can only be guaranteed by using the wet bonding method described below. Dry bonding is likely to result in the aforementioned detachment and tensioning of the film.
Ambient temperature: between 15°C and 30°C
Surface preparation: The surface to be covered must be free of dirt, grease and any other materials that could affect the adhesive strength. We recommend using design112 Surface Cleaner for cleaning. For best results, remove any unevenness such as paint residue, scratches, rust, etc. beforehand. Remove any type plates/model lettering.
The expert method for positioning:
- Spray the surface and adhesive side of the film with design112 Magie ApplyProfi adhesive fluid.
- After positioning, use a squeegee, for example, to press the fluid out between the surface and the film – do not apply too much pressure. Depending on the temperature and surface, the drying time is approx. 10 minutes. If there are still air bubbles in the surface after application, pierce or cut the air bubbles with a sharp (razor) blade and brush the air out towards the opening.
Remove:
- Heat the foil and surface with a hot air gun.
- Peel off the film flat along the surface
- Remove adhesive residue with isopropyl alcohol or thinner.
Care instructions
For a long service life of your lettering
To ensure that you can enjoy your vehicle lettering/markings for a long time, we kindly ask you to observe the following points:
The adhesive film on vehicles only reaches its final adhesive strength after approx. 48 hours at 15 °C. If the temperature is lower, this period is extended accordingly. You should only wash your vehicle again once the adhesive strength has been fully activated.
Clean the vehicle by hand only – do not use a high-pressure cleaner.
If you decide to use a high-pressure cleaner at your own risk, please note the following:
- Only spray the vehicle with cold water.
- Keep a minimum distance of 80 cm.
- Do not spray directly onto the edges of the film.
Perforated films (e.g. on windows) must not be cleaned with a high-pressure cleaner.
When applying stickers to vehicle windows, you should ensure that windscreen wipers do not run over the design, at least not permanently (as is the case with rear windscreen wipers, for example).
Do not use aggressive or solvent-based cleaners to clean the lettering.
Under no circumstances allow the cleaner to dry on the film or use it in direct sunlight.
The vehicle may be treated with polish at the earliest 3 weeks after the adhesive film has been applied. Only use wax-free polishes containing silicone or Teflon for plastic surfaces.
If the durability of the colour film is not to be impaired and the vehicle is to be excluded from regular cleaning, the vehicle may only be cleaned by hand or driven through a car wash with a textile wash without a hot wax programme (no brush wash). The use of waxes or care products that are not expressly approved for use on films may lead to staining on the film.
